We’ve nominated many of our amazing stories and poems in December last year for the Best Small Fictions and the Best Microfiction anthologies, as well as for the Pushcart Prize. And, of course, we want to remind you all of the brilliant new flash fiction collection we’ve just published, THE PREDATORY ANIMAL BALL by Jennifer Fliss. We find that an awesome new book makes for a swell gift to bring in the New Year for one and all. Here’s a brief round up of some of the coverage that Jen’s debut has gotten so far:
Turning Order on It’s Head: Barrelhousing with Jennifer Fliss by Hannah Grieco in BARRELHOUSE.
Life as a Series of Small Gestures: Talking with Jennifer Fliss by Ruth LeFaive in The Rumpus.
Review: The Predatory Animal Ball by Jennifer Fliss Reviewed by Beret Olsen in Smokelong Quarterly.
Finally, we want to take a moment to welcome all of our new OKD Staff Readers! We’re so excited to have them aboard, so give a warm round of applause to: Rebecca Ackermann, Katya Buresh, Adrienne Crezo, Adrian Dallas Frandle, Megan M. Garwood (who’s also one of our award nominees!), Margaryta Golovchenko, Miranda Holmqvist, Lytey Kay, Veronica Klash, Eric Lochridge, Meg Mulcahy, Jessica Nirvana Ram, Christine Salek, Kodi Saylor, Nedjelko Spaich, and Lucy Zhou. Not all heroes wear capes, sometimes they read hundreds of submissions to help us catch up on our Submittable queue! We here at OKD hope all of your New Year’s are off to a good start (or at least as good as can be)!
Sincerely,
Eric, Genevieve, Matt, Steve, Joaquin, and Elizabeth
