OKD 2020 End of Year Round Up!
Hi, folks!
Now that 2020 is finally behind us once and for all, we just want to highlight a few of the good things that happened in the past year. If you’re interested in a brief brain cleanse and a fresh start, you can begin by reading this really terrific and hopeful flash fiction piece we ran on New Year’s Day of 2021:
What is Possible in This, Our Year 2021 by Kendra Fortmeyer
We also want to give another quick boost to the two very wonderful books we published in 2020, Todd Dillard’s WAYS WE VANISH and Tara Isabel Zambrano’s DEATH, DESIRE, AND OTHER DESTINATIONS. We’re in the thick of submitting both of them for awards as we speak, so we’re hoping for some exciting news on that front to share with you. If you haven’t check them out yet, you can order them below:
Also, we want to let everyone know that we’re now open for flash fiction manuscript submissions! The open period is from January 16th to January 31st, so get those flash manuscripts in by the end of the month. We’re looking for debut, flash fiction story manuscripts from 20,000 to 40,000 words. You can take a look at some more info. on our submissions page on the website:

In addition, we mentioned in our previous newsletter that we’re working with The Offing Magazine to help promote equity and social justice in the literary publishing community and beyond. If you’re interested in joining us, here is grassroots activist Aurielle Marie’s new monthly letter on solidarity and hope for the New Year:
On Resolutions by Aurielle Marie
And finally, we want to highlight some of Okay Donkey Magazine’s award nominated pieces from the past year. Our most recent round of nominees were for the Best Small Fiction 2021 anthology. Here’s a list of the ole line-up:
